One of the first signs that spring is near is the seasonal opening of Kurver Kreme. As of today, they are celebrating the grand re-opening for the season. That means the ice cream will once again be flowing and new signs of life and green leafs are just around the corner. As soon as I get off work...I'll be there waiting in line.

My Goal
Due to tough economic times, there have been some cutbacks here at Albany Daily Photo. This explains our recent lack of posting photos. To start the month off right, we are going to make an honest and valid attempt to continue posting 1 photo everyday to this this blog. For all those loyal fans who have been wondering where we went, you can rest assured that we are now back and more ready than ever.
I caught this picture while driving the NY State Thruway recently. This goes to show you that tough times are hitting other besides us at ADP.

It's been a while
So it's been about two and a half weeks since my last post. I'm sorry. Here are some olive cheese balls I made for the Superbowl on February 1st. They're a little late now.

How do you get rid of snow?
Q: How do you get rid of snow?
A: Let it melt.
B: Haul it off in dump trucks.
C: Trick question. It doesn't snow where you live so you don't have to worry about it.
D: Snow isn't real. Al Gore said so in an Inconvenient Truth.

I just want my Phish tickets!
Evidently today was a big day for Phish fans. After the band recently announced they would reunite and play a summer tour, tickets went on sale today at 10AM for some shows. Two die hard Phish fans in my office were waiting patiently fingers clutched to their mice waiting for the clock to hit 10. And more waiting...and browser timeout errors...and live nation crashing... and what! One of them finally got through and chose the number of tickets and had to enter Live Nation's 'Security Check'. When prompted to enter the words he was dumbfounded to see what the first word was. WTF! How do you put that into the computer? He choose to have another word generated for him which was a smart decision. On a subsequent try he had the British Pound sign in part of the word. Does anyone know keyboard shortcut for the British Pound sign? In disgust he eventually gave up and surrendered to Live Nation ticketless. However, the other guy in our office came away with 3 tickets. Congratulations if you got tickets...you mastered the ability to type words correctly into a security check.

Dude where's my car?
As I was leaving work this evening, I couldn't find my car in all the snow. I crossed my path multiple times trying to decide which vehicle was mine. Don't worry. I eventually found my car and dug myself out.
Albany declared a snow emergency and we only had about 5 inches of snow. WTF! That's nothing. Even driving into work today people thought it was the end of the world. As a native Texan I thought people would be prepared and not treat it like the end of the world. This wasn't even close to the largest storm we've had this season (11.3 inches). SUNY Albany even closed school at 10:30AM after most people had arrived. If you ask me, this was all blown out of proportion and left much to be desired.
On another note, this is my 200th post! Yeah! I know I've been slacking recently, but I hope to get back to my regular routine soon. Thanks to all those faithful visitors and thanks to those who leave wonderful comments. I truly appreciate it.

6.3 Inces of Snow
Yesterday morning I woke up to another 6.3 inches of snow that had been dropped on the ground. This is getting a little old. Tomorrow night and Wednesday is suppose to be bitterly cold. Wind chill Wednesday is suppose to be near -24F!
Maybe I should have asked Santa for some warm weather for Christmas.

More Snow
Tonight we are getting another round of snow. Currently we are expecting 5-7 inches, but that is down from the 8-10 they were projecting.

Oven Fries
This is another creation with my Mandoline that I made last night. These are oven fries with, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, and paprika. They are soooo good!
The weather has been pretty nasty this morning. I'm sitting here watching it snow at work.

Dinner
It was very cold outside today and I didn't want to take any pictures in the chilly weather. So I sauteed some onions for dinner with my new kitchen mandoline. Mmmmm!
Stay warm and good luck tomorrow morning with the snow and ice. They are calling for 4-7 inches of snow with 0.5-1 inch of ice.

Footsteps
Yesterday I ventured outside in the freezing cold (Hi 14 - Lo 3) and wanted to take some pictures of the snow (stupid idea when it's so cold). I was walking the park and liked how my shoes were leaving footprints in the snow. Soon after I snapped the picture my hands proclaimed to me "get inside, we are cold".

January 2009 theme day: Best photo of the year 2008
This is a variation of the photo I initially posted on June 21st, 2008. It was probably the best picture I took in 2008 and used it for today's theme day for Best Photo of the year 2008. This shot however is at a different angle.
