It's been a while

So it's been about two and a half weeks since my last post. I'm sorry. Here are some olive cheese balls I made for the Superbowl on February 1st. They're a little late now.

Oven Fries

This is another creation with my Mandoline that I made last night. These are oven fries with, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, and paprika. They are soooo good!

The weather has been pretty nasty this morning. I'm sitting here watching it snow at work.

Dinner

It was very cold outside today and I didn't want to take any pictures in the chilly weather. So I sauteed some onions for dinner with my new kitchen mandoline. Mmmmm!

Stay warm and good luck tomorrow morning with the snow and ice. They are calling for 4-7 inches of snow with 0.5-1 inch of ice.

Post Thanksgiving

Oh boy! Yesterday was Thanksgiving and I was busy all day cooking, eating and entertaining. After cleaning things up last night I didn't want to start anything else, and left the leftover turkey bones in a pot.

Woke up this morning and started my turkey stock. Homemade stock always tastes better. Maybe a similar scene occurred in your home.

Crisan Bakery

Crisan Bakery! Awesome place if you have never been. You have got to try their tiramisu gelato. It's the best! My second favorite would be the coconut. And it's cheap too! $1 for a large scoop. What more could you ask for?

Goat-B-Que

You've been to a Bar-B-Que before, but have you ever been to a Goat-B-Que? That's right! Grilled goat. Nothing beats the smell of meat being grilled over an open flame. The day started a little rainy and overcast, but as the afternoon progressed, the clouds cleared and sun appeared.

Food Festival!

Yesterday was the Empire State Plaza Food Festival. There were more than 70 specialty vendors from around the region serving up great food. This is just a sampling of what was being offered.

Are you hungry?

It was rainy all day today. What does that mean? Throw a pot luck! This is a sampling of what showed up at our pot luck. Happy feasting.

German Chocolate Cake

Today concluded a weekend full of birthdays. In honor of these momentous occasions, a German Chocolate Cake was prepared (and quickly eaten). If you think it looks good in the picture, it was 10x better to eat. If you don't think it looks good, then you are crazy.

I'm taking orders now!

Happy Birthday Ice Cream

A friend of mine celebrated her birthday a week ago this past Sunday. In honor of this milestone I decided to make her some homemade Vanilla Oreo Ice Cream. I must say it's probably the best ice cream I've ever made. This past Sunday I was on a mission to find pasteurized cream since ultra-pasteurized cream loses much of its flavor and texture from being heated to high temperatures. If you are a foodie like me, you may be wondering, "where in Albany, NY can I find pasteurized cream?" Since we don't have a Whole Foods, and Price Chopper/ Hannaford don't carry it, I tried The Honest Weight Coop. BINGO! However, they were were out of stock and wouldn't get any until Monday/Thursday (fyi....those are the only days they get deliveries). Since I needed Oreo's and milk anyway, I went to our big new Wal-Mart. BINGO AGAIN! They sell Byrne Dairy Grade A Pasteurized Cream which is made in Syracuse, NY along with an assortment of other Byrne Dairy products (shameless plug I know). Since summer officially starts June 21st, you still have time to stock up on supplies and recipes so get crackin'.

Again...Happy Birthday! :)
