I just want my Phish tickets!

Evidently today was a big day for Phish fans. After the band recently announced they would reunite and play a summer tour, tickets went on sale today at 10AM for some shows. Two die hard Phish fans in my office were waiting patiently fingers clutched to their mice waiting for the clock to hit 10. And more waiting...and browser timeout errors...and live nation crashing... and what! One of them finally got through and chose the number of tickets and had to enter Live Nation's 'Security Check'. When prompted to enter the words he was dumbfounded to see what the first word was. WTF! How do you put that into the computer? He choose to have another word generated for him which was a smart decision. On a subsequent try he had the British Pound sign in part of the word. Does anyone know keyboard shortcut for the British Pound sign? In disgust he eventually gave up and surrendered to Live Nation ticketless. However, the other guy in our office came away with 3 tickets. Congratulations if you got tickets...you mastered the ability to type words correctly into a security check.

Ra Ra Riot

Ra Ra Riot played tonight at Valentine's in Albany. This indie-rock band hailing from Syracuse, NY has been making waves since they first formed in 2006. Tonight I found out why. They are very energetic, sound great, and never want to let you down. If you get a chance to check them out you should. They are one of the newest buzz band's running around the blogosphere.

New CD's

If you know me or you keep up with this blog, you probably know I really like music. This is just a collection of some of my most recent CD's that I have purchased and been listening to. Take your pick. They are all very good.

Marshall Amp

This is the Marshall Amp that I use when I play my electric guitar. After rockin' out last night I went to unplug and felt like the light hitting the amp would make a good picture. I really like this amp for two reason:
1 - It sounds good
2 - It's Burnt Orange (Hook 'Em)

Stuck in my Head

I was listening to my iPod and "Crazy About You" by Whiskytown started playing. Needless to say I've had this song stuck in my head on and off the weeks now so it made me very happy. If you've never heard or listened to Whiskeytown I suggest you check them out. It was Ryan Adams' alt-country band before his current band the Cardinals.

Jazz

This was a mural I came across during the past week of Louis Armstrong.

On another note, this week it's suppose to start getting much cooler with hi's in the 30's. Wednesday may be the first full day below freezing.

A Bit of Texas in Albany

James McMurty, the son of Larry McMurty (Lonesome Dove & Terms of Endearment + many more) played at The Egg tonight. It was much more rockin' than I ever expected. After living in Austin for 4 years and spending the previous 18 years of my life in Texas I had never seen him before....and now I wonder why I never took advantage of seeing him before. To put it simply....the show rocked! There is still a month and a half left in the year, but the show is easily in my top 10 for the year and probably in my top 5. Go see this guy whenever you get a chance. You will not be disappointed.

Live Music Capital of the World

This past weekend I was out of town visiting one of the greatest cities in the world. The Live Music Capital of the World...Austin, TX...The ATX.

What did I do in Austin? I went to the Austin City Limits Music Festival now in its 7th year.

Who played? Foo Fighter, Alison Krauss & Robert Plant, The Raconteurs, David Byrne, John Fogerty, The Kills, Fleet Foxes, Mike Farris, Black Joe Lewis, Sunny Sweey, Alejendro Escovedo, The Black Keys...and I could go on and on.

Did I have fun? Of course! I was in Austin, TX! Great food, music, drinks, and the wonderful people of the great state of Texas. I can't wait until the festival in 2009.

Here's to another year patiently waiting :)

Lark Fest

This past weekend was the annual Lark Fest. The day was filled with music, food, lemonade, and good times by all. As seen here, the rooftops were full and the streets were crowded. Overall it was a pretty good way to relax and enjoy a Saturday afternoon.

Albany Jazz Festival

This past weekend was the Albany Jazz Festival. It was raining outside from Tropical Storm Hanna so they moved the event to The Palace Theatre. Good times were had by all. This is a picture of Doc Gibbs & Picante. For all you Food Network fans (and those who aren't) Doc Gibb's is part of Emeril Lagasse's house band on Emeril Live.

SPAC

Welcome to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC). This beautiful outdoor venue has been home to hundred of concerts over the decades. This picture was shot before the season got underway as you can see by the beautiful lawn area. The lawn this past weekend for the Bob Dylan concert didn't look nearly this good. If you ever get a chance to see a concert here you should hop on the chance.

When Life Gives You Lemons...

...You Paint That Shit Gold. Whatever you call it (Underground Rap, Emo Rap, or Midwest Rap) Atmosphere's 6th full length studio album offers a nice break from your standard rap songs. They offer more mature lyrics than conventional rap in an attempt to convey their messages to a much broader audience.

Or you can make Lemonade.

KT Tunstall

Tonight KT Tunstall played at the Empire State Plaza. As always she put on an electrifying show with lots of energy and excitement. Now, three years after her smash hit album Eye To The Telescope, she continues to perform with the same intensity and in doing so creates fans around the world.
