A Bit of Texas in Albany

James McMurty, the son of Larry McMurty (Lonesome Dove & Terms of Endearment + many more) played at The Egg tonight. It was much more rockin' than I ever expected. After living in Austin for 4 years and spending the previous 18 years of my life in Texas I had never seen him before....and now I wonder why I never took advantage of seeing him before. To put it simply....the show rocked! There is still a month and a half left in the year, but the show is easily in my top 10 for the year and probably in my top 5. Go see this guy whenever you get a chance. You will not be disappointed.

the first time I saw James McMurty, he opened for Nanci Griffith at the Tower Theater in Houston and he's just released his first cd. We could see him peeking out looking at the crowd before going on. He came out and you could tell he was a bit scared since he'd not performed much. He said, "My name is James McMurty and I'm runnin' for president" and he proceeded to rock the house.

I'd vote for him !

I LOVE this guy!! I saw him for the first (and only at this point) in September when I was in Austin for ACL. I instantly fell in love with his music. I highly recommend seeing him whenever you get the chance, I know I will.
