This past weekend I was out of town visiting one of the greatest cities in the world. The Live Music Capital of the World...Austin, TX...The ATX.
What did I do in Austin? I went to the Austin City Limits Music Festival now in its 7th year.
Who played? Foo Fighter, Alison Krauss & Robert Plant, The Raconteurs, David Byrne, John Fogerty, The Kills, Fleet Foxes, Mike Farris, Black Joe Lewis, Sunny Sweey, Alejendro Escovedo, The Black Keys...and I could go on and on.
Did I have fun? Of course! I was in Austin, TX! Great food, music, drinks, and the wonderful people of the great state of Texas. I can't wait until the festival in 2009.
Here's to another year patiently waiting :)

The Streets
This guy was protecting the streets during Lark Fest last weekend. Can someone clarify for me if drinking in public is legal in Albany/New York? I'm always amazed at the number of people who are allowed to bring their own alcohol to public events.

Shelby
I'm not sure if this car is an original, but the Shelby Cobra is definitely a classic car.

Headbands
I don't see too many people wearing headbands anymore. I'm not sure what happened to them. Did they go out of style? Were they only for little girls to wear? Anyway , let's bring back the headbands and make an 80's fashion statement.

Kids Having Fun
This little boy loved the firetrucks at the Fuller Road Fire Department. He couldn't stop blowing the horn. He would laugh every time.

Working Hard
I came across this guy who was washing his car outside his place of work.
May I take your picture?
Sure, but not with the car in the picture.
But I like the car.
I'm sorry sir, but that's not my job.
Okay, I'll take it with the building the background.

Lark Fest
This past weekend was the annual Lark Fest. The day was filled with music, food, lemonade, and good times by all. As seen here, the rooftops were full and the streets were crowded. Overall it was a pretty good way to relax and enjoy a Saturday afternoon.

Klosed for the Season
Many of you have been wondering if Kurver Kreme is closed. The answer: Yes! Kurver closed its windows for the season about a week ago and the past week has been filled with restless nights trying to quench my sweetooth. I hope you got the chance to bid adieu to the cute soft serve girls before the windows closed. If not, you will have to wait until March.

Goat-B-Que
You've been to a Bar-B-Que before, but have you ever been to a Goat-B-Que? That's right! Grilled goat. Nothing beats the smell of meat being grilled over an open flame. The day started a little rainy and overcast, but as the afternoon progressed, the clouds cleared and sun appeared.

Hurricane Ike
Hurricane Ike is now bearing down on my hometown of Houston. It sounds like it's much worse than what people were really expecting. I'm posting this just as the eye has crossed onto Galveston Island (1:50AM EST September 13, 2008).
Thanks for the photos and videos dad. Hope you and mom are doing well. I'm thinking about both of you. Stay safe! Lots of love.

Albany Jazz Festival
This past weekend was the Albany Jazz Festival. It was raining outside from Tropical Storm Hanna so they moved the event to The Palace Theatre. Good times were had by all. This is a picture of Doc Gibbs & Picante. For all you Food Network fans (and those who aren't) Doc Gibb's is part of Emeril Lagasse's house band on Emeril Live.

EMPAC
RPI's Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center is set for its Grand Opening October 3-19. All indications point to this being a world class facility for both musical and theatrical performances. It is yet another unique building being added to the skyline in the Tri-city region.

Stained Glass
As I was staring at the faculty list on this board searching the names for the one I needed, I realized there was a beautiful reflection in the background. I didn't find the name I was looking for, but the picture made up for these failed endeavors.

Sunflowers
Recently my giant sunflower bloomed in the garden. As I was taking pictures there were a few pollinators (bees) working in the field. You may be able to see one of them in the lower third of the picture.

Black Hole
This is what I would like to call the "Black Hole" at RPI. It's a walkway I came across the other day. They are obviously watching out for peoples safety (i.e. don't want people throwing things onto the cars

Back to the grindstone
Classes began last week and that means students have overtaken Albany. Library's are now beginning to fill up as students take refuge for quiet spots. This was taken during my trip to RPI.
