This past weekend I went apple picking at
Bowman Orchards seeing as how it was late in the season and I still hadn't been this year. It wasn't a weekend too soon either since they are calling for the first snow showers sometime Wednesday morning. No accumulation of the ground, but just some falling flakes. It was a beautiful day as well without a cloud in the sky.
While I was there I accumulated ~12 pounds of apples ranging from Cortland, Empire, Fuji, McIntosh, Mutsu, and probably a few more I can't remember off the top of my head. Pile on the Apple Cider Doughnuts, fresh Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge, fresh Raspberries, and Pumpkins and the trip was well worth the effort.
If you have not been picking this year, you may still have a shot left in the next week or two. Time is running out though because the temperature is starting to drop.
We've had a lot of rain recently and many leafs have fallen off the trees. There are a few however, that still have quite a few leafs with the beautiful fall colors still present. The beautiful red, orange, and yellow. Soon they will all be gone, the temperature will get even colder, and winter will be here for good.

I was walking out to my car today and came across all these leaves that had blow down after the rain we had. The colors on the wet pavement really stood out to me. Enjoy the fall colors everyone. I hope to get out this weekend and take some good pictures.
Don't be mistaken. We are not in the desert southwest. Even here in Albany we have cacti. This shot was taken on a friends stoop and showed a mixture of cacti and pumpkins and I couldn't resist.
It rained on an off all day today. Not your typical showers. It would rain, then there would be blue sky, then it would rain again. It did that about 4 times throughout the day.
So it's not really fall just yet. However, I came across this leaf while walking around RPI the other day. There are a few trees that are slowly turning, but the majority are still green and will stay that way for a few more weeks. Peak fall foliage will probably happen near mid-October.
